One of the biggest questions, which really make people, think a lot, is the question of life after death. Scientist has always been widely ignorant to this. As they fail to prove it from scientific analysis. All which the Prophets have till now arrived have said very much about life after death and have done their best to make people do preparation of that time.
Prophet Muhammad (saw) dealt with this question of meta-physics so uniformly and precisely even more than 1,400 years ago that it clearly seems to be divined.
When he was asked by Makkahans to prove this to them and in a way denied the possibility that such thing can happen, then Allah spoke to them through the Holy Koran. He said in Koran:
"And he was coined for us a similitude, and has forgotten the fact of his creation, saying: who will receive these bones when they have rotten away?
Say: He will receive them who produced them at the first, for he is knowner of every creation. Who has appointed for you fire from the green tree, and behold! You kindle for it.
Is not he who created the heavens and earth, able to create the like of them? Yes, and he is indeed the supreme creator, the all-knowing.  (Koran 36:78-81)

The disbelievers, when were been tried to clarify, used to ask Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) to bring their fathers back alive. On which Allah has answered them to wait as He acts on His own plans.
Believing in life after death is very much important as in courts of today some cases are handled with mistakes and wrong persons are punished, people all their life suffer from hardships but still they stay quite. When on the judgement day everyone will be given life once again they will be dealt with pure justice and this what is called the basic need. If we say that, "Why Allah will do the judgement?"
Then the answer is, it's just like a computer programmer who has made a very intelligent program and when he find a serious problems his software is causing, cannot delete or destroy it.
It will happen on the judgement day when the tyrants will be punished according to the mistakes they have made and people who did good deeds (Momens - in Arabic) will be rewarded.
On that day God's mercy will be for those who suffered for Him and will be rewarded by giving equivalent place in heavens.
According to Koran:
"But those who strive against our revelation, challenging (Us) will be a painful doom of wrath". (34:3-5)
